Garry Blackchild is an outlaw folk and Southwest Americana singer-songwriter based in Taos, NM. Originally from Pasadena, CA, his Afro-Indigenous heritage deeply influences his Southern roots style, weaving together blues, bluegrass, country, gospel, outlaw ballads, and desert rock. His lyrics reflect his nomadic journey, capturing the essence of life on the road and his experiences as a Black and Indigenous man in the Southwest.
A multi-instrumentalist, Garry delivers raw and dynamic performances, singing and playing acoustic and electric guitars, mouth harp, and a vintage suitcase foot drum kit. His live shows range from high-energy foot-stompers to heartfelt ballads that speak to the hardships of working-class life. As a modern troubadour and poet, his music embodies both the evolution and the future of Americana and roots music.
Garryβs latest album, Rebel Folk, is available on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Pandora, and Bandcamp. His highly anticipated second album, High Desert Love Affair, is set for release in 2025.
